So, last weekend was the 3rd annual Seattle 24 Hour Film Race. VERY unfortunate timing.
Eli Martin, the event producer for the Seattle leg of the competition is a really nice guy. I bought a ticket for the screening last night, but unfortunately didn't have the time to attend. We had a brief chat and I assured him that the timing of both of our competitions was unfortunate, but my choice to run the 48HFP this weekend was in no way shape or form a conscious effort to mess with his event. We simply managed to choose a similar time frame independently and sign contracts that locked us into those dates.
I think we managed to affect both of our registration a little bit, but we made a pact that next year we would consult with each other earlier in the year and select dates for each event that won't interfere with our respective events.
Seattle's a small city and, as filmmakers, we all need to work together to make our projects happen.
